rooted workshop

The rooted workshop is intended for you to slow down, and supporting your mental health through plants.

We first begin with a guided meditation to not only set the tone, but to put your mind and body at ease. This also helps to relieve any built-up stress. Then we discuss the innate connection between us and plants, and write down our affirmations/goals. We plant what we have written, and proceed to complete the repotting process. Lastly, we water our plant to ground the affirmation/goals. This plant is a reminder to take care of ourselves, allowing grace in each of our own paths, and to be more patient with our personal growth.

We have had the privilege to work with Jodianne from Noire Girls Plant as our organization, Nia Centre for the Arts, had contracted her to facilitate a workshop for our Wellness Connect Program. The workshop was seamless as Jodianne supplied the participants with all the materials and supplies needed to plant their own plants, and provided them with daily affirmation cards and a mediation session. Folks thoroughly enjoyed the workshop and they gained helpful advice to help them on their journey as Plant Parents. Thanks for the great work Jo!

Being able to have the Rooted event as the final event of 2020 was such a great experience. This year was tough on us and our youth. To be able to give them a safe space to relax, meditate and focus on the positive future they could create for themselves was so beneficial. Having Noris Girls Plant be there for the beginning stages from buying the plants, advising us on which plants would be easy to care for, and suggesting other resources to make the planning process as easy as possible was very much appreciated. The workshop was phenomenal! The youth had so many questions and Jo was so knowledgeable on all things plants! you even offered her email for youth to follow up and ask any questions later for free! We are super excited to partner with her again in providing more programs in these areas.

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

The plant workshop was a great way to connect with others virtually. The meditation allowed me to take time out of my busy day focus on relaxation. I would love to do something similar in the near future. The planting portion was also really fun. I’m a plant lover so I was very excited about this aspect of the workshop. My favourite part was the intentions we planted within our plant, it’s a good physical reminder of the goals I have for myself.
